Web Summit Qatar – Doha | Netherlands
James Spann completed a high-impact international trip spanning Doha and the Netherlands, focused on advancing Boyd Street Ventures’ global strategy and cross-border commercialization efforts.
- Doha (Pre-Summit): Early ecosystem engagement and relationship-building ahead of Web Summit Qatar.
- Netherlands: Worked closely with two medical device companies that BSV is supporting in U.S. market entry, with a focus on commercialization strategy, regulatory pathways, and go-to-market execution.
- Doha (Web Summit Qatar): Participated in VENTURE and held meetings with key institutions including the Qatar Financial Centre, Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, and Qatar Investment Authority.
This trip reinforces BSV’s commitment to building a globally connected, execution-focused platform, supporting both inbound innovation and outbound portfolio expansion.
RESI Conference – San Francisco
At RESI JPM 2026, James Spann joined the “First Check” VC panel, sharing practical insights with founders on securing initial institutional capital and effectively engaging early-stage investors.
The week also included participation in the McDermott Healthcare Conference, sponsored by Ernst & Young, along with meetings across the healthcare innovation ecosystem. A key highlight was a visit to Hitachi’s headquarters to explore opportunities across healthcare, AI, energy, and advanced manufacturing, including engagement with partners such as NVIDIA.
Annual Diverse & Emerging Managers Conference
Boyd Street Ventures attended the 2026 Annual Diverse & Emerging Managers Conference, hosted by the Office of the New York City Comptroller.
The event brought together institutional investors, public pensions, and emerging managers to discuss capital allocation trends and best practices for building institutional-quality investment firms.
BSV’s participation reflects our continued focus on:

Institute for Private Investors Conference/ Campden Wealth Family Office Investment & Macro Forum – Washington, D.C.
Boyd Street Ventures participated in the IPI Family Investment & Macro Forum, engaging with leading family offices and institutional investors in a closed-door setting focused on long-term capital allocation and macro strategy.
The forum covered a range of timely themes, including:

- Family office portfolio construction, governance, and co-investment strategies

James Spann spoke at the Oklahoma City Downtown Rotary on “Investing in Oklahoma’s Future: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Growth.”
